About Plasma Cutting Nozzle

The nozzle focuses the plasma arc and the gas that surrounds it to make a clean and precise cut. A nozzle with a larger opening is used for gouging, while a nozzle with a smaller opening is better able to direct the gas and so is used for fine, detailed work.

Plasma nozzle typically made from ceramic or volcanic ash, a swirl ring controls and swirls the plasma gas around the electrode and into the nozzle. This controls the point where the arc is attached to the emitter. It also controls the plasma flow through the nozzle affecting the edge angularity.
